First Broad River Trailhead
TEMPORARILY CLOSED This beautiful trail was impacted by flooding that damaged the popular suspension bridge and trails. The City of Shelby has not released an estimated time for reopening. Definitely worth a visit when they reopen!
Completed in 2016, Shelby’s growing First Broad River Trail is expanding to offer scenic views that tie back to the City’s Historic Uptown District. Beginning at the Twin Trestle Trailhead, the trail’s main entry point features a landscaped 30-acre field. The historic train trestle, measuring 600 feet long and 60 feet tall is a sight to behold. Amenities currently include natural walking trails, parking, benches along the trail, a suspension bridge enjoyed by all ages and canoe/kayak launch.
